Best Western International, Inc. owns the Best Western Hotels & Resorts brand, which it licenses to over 4,500 hotels worldwide. The franchise, with its corporate headquarters in Phoenix, Arizona, includes more than 2,000 hotels in North America. The brand was founded by M.K. Guertin in 1946. As of May 2019, David Kong is the president and CEO of Best Western and Dorothy Dowling is the chief marketing officer. In 1964, Canadian hotel owners joined the system. Best Western then expanded to Mexico, Australia, and New Zealand in 1976. In 2002, Best Western International launched Best Western Premier in Europe and Asia. (The other hotels in the chain were known as Best Western.) In 2011, the chain's branding system-wide changed to a three-tiered system: Best Western, Best Western Plus, and Best Western Premier.

Cher shared her experience in this review: "Beware!! Went to Best Western reservation website and called the reservation number. Where the fellow I spoke with made no mention he was quoting in US$. and said free cancellation on the phone. It wasn't until I got the confirm from getaroom.com I saw this Price was US$ and no cancellation refund. I'm calling from Canada, booking a room in Canada. Why would I pay in US$? BW has gone to **. So much for loyalty and VIP customers. Nothing but run around from Best Western, they can't help me. Getaroom offered me $12. Will never use either of these companies again."

"They over work their housekeepers and dont care we have to get everything done and done right the first time. You will be so tired and hurting at the end of the day when you get home you cant do s*** you cant move at all from being over worked. Need more girls in the summer for part time housekeeping. Because in the winter you will be laid if you are the new person. For a raise they only give you .25 - .50 a year . They will not appreciate you. Owner just cares about his rooms getting cleaned he dont care how many you have. They give you 26-30 rooms a day and they will give you more if someone calls off. They will want them all done unless your there for 8 - 9 then they will tell you to go home they dont like anyone getting over time. Some great girls to work with . SomeStart brakes, no paid lunch, not good pay, not appreciated and very poor management"

"I interviewed a few months ago for a laundry position. I have a very minor tremor issue that I was born with. I am perfectly physically able to perform as a laundry attendant but was told that she didn't think I would be able to physically handle the job. She then put her arms up in the air and wiggled them around and added that it is a very physical job. At home I take care of 3 adults over the age of 75. This person has no idea what I am physically cabable of, all she saw was my tremor and denied me even a chance at work.NonePrejudice"

"Very poorly managed establishment which survives on under the table payments to favoured staff members and cutting the hours of staff they dont like. They will even go to the extent of asking for your tips to replace till variances you had nothing to do with and give you no contract so they can cut your hours legally. Very illegitimate business to work for especially if you are of colour. Hearing the work paki from both staff and customers. Acocks green is still a very racially charged area. "I have to say it was very great in the beginning. The managers were comforting and kind that’s the bait. They would tell you “ I want you to tell us what’s going on & what people are doing and not doing”, “be a team leader”, “I wanna make you a shift manager”. They had it set in my brain that I was wanted, needed & valued . For $9.50 an hour. After 1 whole year almost of working for Best Western my boss goes. I got you a $1 raise. She made it seem like a big deal. Her own word were “I had to fight to get you that $1”. That’s totaling $10.50 an hour before taxes. I was an amazing employee & wouldn’t “bend” as one manager told me, as in I wouldn’t break rules or let things go when another employee wasn’t doing something right or breaking rules. Yet, they want me to be a team leader. A team leader follows rules in my book. If I’m taught how to do something right it’s gonna get done properly. I didn’t receive any bonuses or vacation time we were allowed PTO which average out about 5 days a year. If you work 40+ hours a week. I bent over backwards for this company & it’s employees. When someone called out I was there to help, or if an employee came in high off pills & couldn’t keep awake I was there. I worked that double shift & had to be to work 6 hours after that double shift. I’ve helped In the restaurant, room service, maintenance & housekeeping. I did what I could to help out. I was promised a shift manager position. Did everything I could do and still didn’t get the position. Covid-19 came around and everything collapsed before we knew it. Business was very slow so theyIt’s a jobConstant drama, lazy co-workers, bedbugs, rats, roaches, they had illegal staff over 20 without US Documents."

I was excited to start work here but unfortunately there were multiple issues from the favoring between housekeepers and laundry operator, false reports without further investigations, at the time.i was a first time mom and had no means of transportation except public transportation where I use to pick up my then preschooler..I was fired due to my obligations as a mom. Management has no clue how to run a hotel. Even when hiring a new frint desk manager they screw up. "I really enjoyed the laundry and cleaning aspect of the job, but everything else was HORRIBLE! The owner is really cheap and doesn’t want to get anything that is broken fixed, won’t hire any help and expects the housekeepers to work 6-7 days a week short staffed. The manager isn’t much better at all. Instead of managing the hotel, she is either in her suite or in the pool. She also expects you to work nonstop as well and both the owner and manager DOES NOT value you as an employee. They constantly are having people check in and end up getting kicked out because of drugs."

"The location in pleasanton tx is horrible!!! i wish i could rate them ZERO stars. This was one of my first jobs and I would never refer anyone to work here!! The management would literally harass you and watch you on their cameras all day long. Not to mention they do not pay over time even if you earned it which is illegal!! They dont care about the employees who work there.I hated every second of working here. "When I First started working at the Best western Plus in State College PA, I Loved it. After a few months the true colors of management started to show. The general manager at this location will scream and curse at her employees. It has happened to me and i have witnessed it happen to many others. If you enjoy being degraded and cursed at by your GM then this is the place for you. Dont bother trying to bring anything up to upper management about it either because they dont care. "I searched the Internet for a Best Western hotel near me. Ok filled the blanks in received a price for 1 night Adults. I then saw a discount for Veterans or Government so I went back and applied the Veterans discount and low and behold the price went up $9. I then called Customer Service and she made a excuse that didn't hold water. I asked to be called the next day by a corporate official because this is not a mistake it's intentional ... She hung up on me... Unbelievable"

"My Husband was staying at the Park Rapids Motel while working, He slipped in the old slip strip shower and broke ribs plus tile when he fell he could barely call 911...we were in SC while this was happening, We had to get mean with the manager to make sure the ambulance could find him....after going to the hospital and being drugged up he had to walk back to the motel 2 miles while freezing conditions..noone from corporate called him back...they say individually owned it's your problem."

"Best Western Crossroads of the Bluffs Address: 2216 27th Ave, Council Bluffs, IA 51501 The General Manager is a very irresponsible individual who does not practice hygiene and disinfection in major rooms to avoid ticks spread. A virgin truck male driver got several bites around his neck and body due to a quick room service that should have taken more time to minimize diseases. This GM spends more time talking to his male friends who are seen outside of the motel than to ensure the cleanliness of all his guests' rooms. We are positive that this male GM is a homosexual by nature and is a huge trouble maker who calls the local Police to antagonize his guests or even to try to get them killed by providing a false verbal story. He is indeed a murderer and a big liar who likes to cause trouble so his dirty Hispanic kind can get all the girls and jobs! We are certain that this individual has broad connection with the Pilot Center for illegal local girls hook ups. They use a very clever strategy as the switch bait so he can manipulate his customers and rip them off hundred of dollars!"

"Best Western in Leverkusen was a terrible experience. Generally, Best Western in Germany is in low quality. The furniture in the room, looks like something from the 60'ies, very unappealing and not charming. I stayed there for 7 days and I regret that I stayed there. It was a horrible hotel, and they charged 17 euros for breakfast per day, but the breakfast was very boring, too simple, and I was not satisfied with the breakfast at all. Some of the mornings, I have had to wait almost up to 60 minutes before my breakfast was ready. They often gave me wrong breakfast than the ones that I ordered. After 4 days of my stay, I requested a room clean at the reception and that never happened. I also wrote them couple of emails in order to book my room, but no response. Clearly my conclusion is that I will never ever in my life use Best Western in Germany again. I have also been staying in best western in Isenburg and that was a horrible experience as well. There are hotels that cost the same or even cheaper but with good quality that is much better than Best Western."

"The hotel in Nonthaburi was not good. I was given the wrong information about travel to the immigration building by them before. originally they told me it would be 20 mins max, but when I got there they said it would take an hour. They didn't show me to my room when I arrived - I had to ask and the breakfast was truly awful hard bread and uncooked eggs. I could say more but don't want to waste any more time."

"Crazy policy of the hotel!!!! The guy drowned in the pool almost in front of my eyes. They closed the pool saying it’s coronavirus. Manager told me that two maids saw he is drowning nobody did nothing . Couple of days ago I had asthma attack and called the ambulance manager told me if I’ll call the help I’m not welcomanymore. Don’t stay there u might die. Mother of this young boy came to see where died her son, was crying not touching anything or breaking anything. Manager said he will call police on her"

"A family member of mine recently stayed at the Best Western in Brigham City, UT. They were shocked to see the manager named Sashi we found out, not taking the covid regulations seriously. They have halloween candy in the lobby in a big bowl, no social distancing at the front desk. They stayed in a room upstairs and complained how stuffy and hot the hallways were, no air. They saw maids being asked to clean in rooms where guests were still staying, which I believe also violates the covid regulations. This hotel has been fully booked since it became The Best Western in 2019 I believe. They are always at capacity which means they are not following the covid regulations all in the name of making money and zero concern for their guests or staff for that matter. They need to shut down and thoroughly disinfect this hotel. Not impressed, covid is real!"

"Booked last minute so I blame myself. Staff are polite but not friendly. The courtyard room was dismal. Such bad lighting with orange glow bulbs overhead and on table lights. My husband could not read anything and I could not do my make up as the lighting was so poor. The hairdryer smelt of burning electrics and turned off after one minute. Reception did not pick up the phone . i called them 5 times . No answer. The carpet is stained and dirty. The furniture is old and worn. The whole hotel is dated and is something out of the 70s and not in a good way. The only saving grace was that our bed had clean sheets and the shower looked clean . However, take your own disinfectant and wipe everything down first. Never booking here again."

"When I checked in I informed the front desk that I didn't know how long I was going to stay because my mother was sick and I was caring for her. On the third day when I returned to the room, my key didn't work. This happened three more times during my week stay. They said it was company policy. It was frustrating after a day of being with my dying mother to not be able to enter my room without going to the front desk. They had my credit card on file. They would put a charge on it and then lock me out. And for the most part the employees were also rude and indifferent to my concerns. The bathroom floor was extremely dirty. This was the Stevens motel in Carlsbad, NM"
